I know, I know. You folks dislike change and let’s face it, most ‘changes’ don’t make any difference, however Seaguide is a different story altogether. All the changes we made add up to a big upgrade!
Seaguide “Adaman” Finish
One example, which you really can’t see, is the Adaman Finish. Adaman is Seaguide’s PVD (Eco-Friendly) finish for any steel ring guides, snake guides or tops etc. and this PVD finish is more than 2 times harder and 6 times smoother than any other PVD finished guides on the market (as tested by a major international polytechnical university). Adaman is available in Silver, Black and Gun-smoke and according to the manufacturer, Adaman is the hardest, most durable finish of any other PVD’d guides, hands down. I just call the Adaman finish PVD 2.0!
It’s almost as if little people are pulling your line through the guides!
All Adaman finishes (silver, black & gun-smoke) have the same properties: corrosion resistance, hardness, smoother. There is no ‘plating’ on these guides … it’s all PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition). Plating is not as eco-friendly, either.
Pre-ground Feet
Seaguide’s feet on our running and stripping guides are the best pre-ground feet I’ve seen on a production guide and that means you’ll need less ‘prep’ time when you build a rod.
Price is competitive, even though I’m able to upgrade to a better finish without charging much more.
Regardless of what I think, it’s worth noting that Scott, G. Loomis, Northfork Composites, Winston, and lastly, Orvis are all using them. Undeniably, I think that’s enough ‘research’ to convince you that these guides are excellent.
LBG Stripping Guides
Stripping Guides. these are a different animal altogether. The LBG PVD frame with Seaguide’s RS Silicon Nitride ring. As far as ceramic rings go, this is the lightest ring insert I’ve ever seen. I’m told that our LGB frame (SS 316L) with the RS ring is lighter in weight than a similar solid titanium frame with a Zirconia ring. The LGB strippers have a slightly lower profile than conventional guides. This makes it easier to slide your rod into the tube and can prevent damage to the guide. They’re nice to look at too!
I’m certain there are ‘pros’ out there who won’t like the Silicon Nitride rings despite their excellent qualities…
… but they actually make bearings out of Silicon Nitride and in some cases, the entire bearing is Silicon Nitride (pictured below). The largest is 65mm!

If you’re thinking about guide ‘sets’, know that our new sets all contain guides with the Adaman finish. Stripping guides have the Silicon Nitride ring, making it the lightest weight without giving up durability, smoothness, etc. If you’re not familiar with rod building, a guide set is always a good starting point.
