Description
A completely re-designed Xi … crafted to be lighter, stronger, faster and thinner! Fishing the X2 will make you feel like you spend $1,000+! These have a ‘raw’ sanded carbon finish and cast like a dream (not a broomstick!). They remind me of the older Loomis blanks as it seems Gary was the ‘inventor’ of the stealthy look. But it’s not just the looks … but casting it is ‘reminiscent’ of the “GL” Series (GLX, GL2,GL3) given that our newer design is lighter/faster/thinner with the modern graphite fabrics and resins. In any case, you will love fishing this blank … just get it on the water and amaze yourself! For me, I just think about when and how I want my fly to land on the water and the X2 just ‘puts’ it there! At the price we charge for the kit, you’ll think we should’ve charged more after you’ve fished it!

I just finished making a fly ride using the X2i kit and it is absolutely beautiful! I love how light and sleek it is in your hand! When I casted it for the first time, I was blown away by how effortlessly and smoothly it casts! I have been fly fishing for over 34 years and this may be the best casting rod I have ever used. It casts at least as well as the top of the line Winston, St. Croix, Orvis, or Sage Rods. I have a great Sage R8 Core 590-4 rod which casts beautifully. The X2i is better I believe. I practice casting almost every day and I can cast the entire line consistently! The fly line seems to fly (no pun intended!) through the guides! You will simply have to make one to see for yourself! The components for the rod are beautiful as well! I will be using the X2i blanks/kits from now on as I continue my rod building!

I built a 9′ 5# and 9′ 7# X2i. Lovely rods, and the components supplied as part of the kit are great quality. Thoroughly recommended.
I put the #5 through its paces on the River Suir in Ireland over 4 days. Had some lovely fish on it. Great all round rod. It handles dry, wet fly and nymphs well. Easily as good as my top brand fly rods.
The 7wt is great. Used on reservoirs in the UK for rainbows, and on the flats in the Bahamas for Bahamas. It casts effortlessly and accurately. Can easily cast all day, and has great feel when playing a fish.
