Introducing ALL NEW Hi-Wrap Mono Poly Rod Winding Thread

Here are some of the reasons Batson remains a leader after 25 years of business: Quality, Inventory, Fulfillment, Range of products, Service and Warranty.

As far as we are concerned, switching to polyester rod building thread is a significant upgrade. With Hi-Wrap Mono Poly, we actually can offer you a better thread at a better price! ($2.29 – limited time, regularly $2.99)

Seaguide Hi-Wrap rod building thread features unfading colors and strong tensile strength. Their aim is to provide rod builders with more high-quality alternatives in this category. The present Hi-WRAP thread is available in over 260 models in poly and metallic in 4oz. spools (3.3oz metallic), 1oz. spools and 100 meter spools. According to Seaguide, their Hi-WRAP poly thread does not require a color preserver, the color will not change with the epoxy resin is applied. After we tested it ourselves, we would say that there is a very, very slight darkening of the threads when the finish is applied. It’s barely noticeable and I’d personally recommend using Hi-Wrap without color preserver. (See our test below)

Seaguide’s Mono Poly rod winding thread is made from polyester. Generally speaking, we like polyester threads better than nylon because compared to nylon,

  1. Abraision Resistance- poly has better resistance to abrasion than nylon,**
  2. Ease of Use – simply put, the Hi-Wrap feels great in the fingers and wraps very easily and smoothly
  3. Finishing – smooth wrapping and polyester thread make the base for an excellent finish
  4. UV Resistance – More resistant than nylon to UV rays**
  5. Ages Gracefully – Polyester ages better than Nylon. Won’t break down under wear as quickly.
  6. Vivid Colors- the colors ‘pop’ more than nylon and our Hi-Wrap doesn’t need color preserver*

Terry tested applying thread finish to Baby Blue (MPTS-A-416), without and with color preserver. Take a look at the photo below:

The results are clear … well, almost! There is a perceptible difference between the left and right examples above as you can see. It’s just a scooch darker without the color preserver applied prior to finish epoxy. The difference is so small that I’d imagine it won’t even matter to 99% of our custom builders!
