Diamondback Classic Western -- Legendary for its superb balance, smooth action and easy casting over a variety of distances. The Classic Trout series may be as close to the ultimate all-around trout rod as you can get. The Classic Western incorporates all of the features of the Classic Trout on a slightly faster rod blank. These blanks are the culmination of over 30 years of rod engineering and development, utilizing progressive taper construction with Diamondback’s own intermediate modulus graphite. The power braid system is once again utilized on this blank, not only for its incredible strength, but also making it one of the most distinctive fly rods available anywhere. I wish I had a photo of these beautiful blanks, but wanted to get these into my customer's hands before they disappear forever! Diamondback blanks are made with spigot ferrules (see picture) as opposed to the tip over butt ferrule. This improves the action and function of the fly rod in a number of ways. The entire blank is made in one piece and then cut into sections and the spigot ferrule is inserted into the blank. This results in a fly rod that is stronger, lighter, and more consistent in action and in spine. Also, the spigot is made with a taper so that the sections don’t quite touch, even with wear. This insures that the sections are always snug and secure giving the rod an unbelievable feel. Simply put this rod is a great rod! It is a pleasure to cast and fish with all day long. The moderately fast action gives you the power to make longer casts, but at the same time it is a forgiving rod that will make you look and feel like an expert castor.
